At a time when the very existence of a sixth continent “garbage continent” in the five oceans can no longer be questioned, wouldn't it be high time to bring to the front of the environmental scene this French tool known for over half a century?  With this we legitimize, and agree on the benefits of the daily use that this pioneering tool has had in the maintenance of our sandy beaches, mainly on the Varoise coast of France during the tourist season : The Charlotte.

The Charlotte, a sieve created by a ‘Plagiste’ (beach attendant) 50 years ago, and always used by them since the first light of day, has proved to be indispensable to the world renowned beach restaurants and five-star hotels of this region. It makes it possible to justify the tariffs for services, such as the impeccable cleanliness of the sand, a truly added value to the clientele and the municipalities always more concerned about the health and preservation of sites.

By using it for many years I have raised the awareness and responsibility of individuals towards the consequences of what they consider a benign practice which goes against the environment and our health: the camouflage of waste in the sand. I was inspired by this practice 25 years ago as a beach attendant, and have been using The Charlotte for several years during my cleaning missions around the world. I want to democratize the use on the coastlines of this tool without equivalent in the world.

Despite motorized copies, The Charlotte remains unsurpassed by its economical, maintenance-free, strong, light, handy, efficient and silent character and being 100% ecological.  I demonstrated that the beach, like the submerged body of the Iceberg, actually hides in the sand a multitude of micro-plastic particles (these already unfortunately entered our food chain) but also stoppers, cigarette butts, lollipop sticks, fishing lines, syringes  and condoms...

Word to the wise."
